Completely
trained, perfectly behaved dogs we do not have.
We do
however get in dogs that are un-socialized, untrained, badly neglected
and sometimes very abused . These dogs are starved for food and
attention most of the time. They want to be loved. They want a home to
live in, not a filthy cage or yard or tied to a doghouse day in and day
out. Some have never had a kind word or gesture, never had a full belly,
never warm in the winter or cool in the summer. They have however had
frostbite due to inadequate shelter, fly bites in the heat of summer,
broken bones and spirits from abuse, and lonely broken hearts as they
wonder what they have done wrong. Some have even had the pleasure of
seeing the neighboring dogs play with their owner, go for car rides and
get a hug and a full bowl of food and water. They are scared, feel
unwanted and hopeless. Some are very sick, and some do not even make it,
some die, never knowing what love is. This is where you come in. Rescue
dogs do need love , they do need a home and they do need your help.
Adopting a dog from a rescue or shelter can be the most rewarding
experience for both you and a dog. From first hand experience I can
assure you the dog you rescue will be one of the best pets you have ever
had. He will be thankful for everything you give him, since he probably
never had anything before. You will feel the difference in your heart
and in his. He or she will give you love unconditionally, and will look
to you for guidance. He or she will protect you, love you and adore you
for what you have given him food, water, warmth, love and safety. I have
included some of the before photos of dogs that where rescued and saved.
These dogs have all been placed in loving homes and are now living out
their lives happy and contented with people who love them.

Adoption Fees
$275.00 covers the adoption of a dog All dogs are
spayed or neutered , Up To Date on inoculations, Heart Worm tested and on
preventative and micro-chipped for identification purposes. Some fees are
lower depending on the age of a dog. 7 Years and older the fee will be
adjusted. Some of our dogs require hundreds of dollars to get them on the
road to recovery due to emaciation, mange, wounds etc, but we do NOT raise
the adoption fee for that dog. Some require less expense, but the fee always
remains the same $275.00.
PLEASE NOTE
Please understand that dogs and children can be
unpredictable. Extreme caution and strict supervision must be exercised at
all times when child(ren) and adopted dog are together. You must understand
that we have limited knowledge of these dogs and can only tell you what we
have observed while in our care or what information, if any, other shelters
may have given us. At any time a child could provoke a dog to react in a
negative way and cause a reaction by that dog when defending itself or its
possessions if feeling threatened. Extreme caution and strict supervision
must be used when they are within the same area. A number of dogs have been
returned to us in the past year do to a negative reaction between dog and
child and It is for this reason that we will no longer adopt out to families
with children under the age of 10 years old.
Deacon
DEACON - Very loving 4 year old male that is longing for his own family.
Prefers a home without any other male dogs. Deacon is very Velcro and loves
to be with his people. Children over 10 okay, not sure about cats. OK with
female dogs. This guy wants to lounge on the deck with you and is good in
the car.
Magic
Hi my name is Magic and as you can see I keep a really close eye on my
belongings. If there isn't one of my toys around I will just as happily use
my bowl. I love to carry things and can be a little picky on who tries to
share them with me, therefore I am looking for a home with no children, or
small pets like cats (yuck).
I am friendly enough but can be a little bossy and pushy so an
experienced home is what I am looking for so people don't get the wrong
idea. I am between 5 to 7 yrs old and am completely (trust me) housebroken
and a good watchdog. I am told my tail wags constantly , I love to go for
rides and walk well on lead. Come on over to see me! My foster mom Nancy
will show me off!
Brandi
This is Brandi, she is still available. She is 8 years young and LOVES
people. She will visit the neighbors and mooch a little food then will come
right back. This is a dog that is easily cared for and trained very well.
She is Velcro and wants nothing more than to follow you around and rest next
to you . She would be good with children over 10 yrs old and seems to be ok
with cats. She is good with other dogs if they let her be the boss. She is
currently in a home with another male and female Doberman and is doing fine.
She is housebroken can 'sit' give 'paw' and would be an awesome companion
even for the beginner dog owner.

This is BUBBA a 4/5 year old black male that is
very playful and loves to run, he would be great with another female. NO
cats though. Bubba is housebroken and needs some leash training, but he is
very smart and would make a great companion.

Midnight
This is Midnight, she is a female and a cropped and docked 3 year old
female. Very sweet and loving. Dominant around other dogs, but gets along
with most males. She is very smart and wants ‘lovins’ Housebroken and
playful and a good watchdog.

This is MUNCH short for "I call him" Munchkin. He
is a young guy that has had a tough start in life and is longing to have a
home. This boy is very playful and would make a wonderful jogging partner or
agility dog. Good with other dogs.

Sassy
Well this is Sassy and she does fit her name, she
is bouncy and happy and has selective hearing at times (like most women) She
is good with dogs, and needs room to run and play. She is 3 years old.

Stanley
This is Stanley, as in Stanley cup. He is about 8 wks old. Someone said they
"found" him walking the road north of Pittsburgh, they brought him to the
humane society. Possibly it was the owners or friends of someone who may
have bred the litter. We have found out this little guy has some hearing and
eye problems guessing they did not want him to sell so they turned him in.
You can Tell he must have been left outside. His ears are scabby, marks and
little scabs on his body. On the thin side. His ears have been medicated as
they seem to be bothering him. He eats like a little pig. So far he does not
seem socialized much, he does not know much about toys, etc. He would really
like a home and a family to love.

Bo
This is Bo a 4 year old old fawn male that is extremely affectionate and very velcro. He came to us from a shelter. He is housebroken , neutered, up to
date on his
shots , and microchipped. He would do fine with another dog but
likes to be the center of attention and likes his space when he is sleeping.
Therefore he should go to a home with adults only. Give us a call or email
us to come and see him!
He would love a visitor!

Gunner the Doberman
This is Gunner the Doberman. Gunner is 6 years old. Gets along well with
cats and people. Prefers to be the only dog, but is ok with cats. Gunner
would also be ok with children over 10. This lovable boy needs a home and is
waiting patiently but he is very lonely. A good watchdog, but whines when he
wants to be loved or is needing a little attention please call or email to
set up an appointment to see him. He would LOVE the company!

Gunner, 1 ˝ year old French Mastiff. Prefers to be the only dog. , playful
and a good guardian, Gunner is an active boy that likes to take walks and
play with his favorite toy, a basketball. Experienced home preferred. Will
require references and breed knowledge for consideration.

This is Casper a 4 year old white male Doberman that is looking for a home where
he will be loved and pampered. Casper is quiet and well mannered. He is calm

Riley is a 3 year old natural eared red female full
of fun and energy, She has been waiting forever for a home. Honestly she is
a good girl and loves people and playtime. Won’t someone please come and see
her? I promise you won’t be disappointed, all she wants is to be loved!

This is Ace, he is a very lovable boy. He is friendly, gets along with other
dogs of the opposite sex and is well behaved. Loves attention and play.

Willie
Willie is a cropped and docked blue male from the same puppymill (Photo
Below) we did a
recent rescue from at that time we got 18 puppies (DPRWPA took only 6) As a
matter of fact this is their father. We estimate his age as his past life
has been very rough. Our vet thinks he may be around 4 years old. Willie
will need some TLC before being adopted but is well on his way . He is so
very gentle and sweet . In a few weeks he will be unrecognizable as the
skinny , dirty dog pictured here. Wait and see. New pictures to come in a
couple weeks!

Dante
Dante is a 4 to 5 yr old natural eared
black male who came to us with a severe wound on his leg. Finding out he had
damaged the leg by licking it constantly out of boredom. You see his
previous ’ owners’ left him outside tied to a dog house for years. He was so
lonely and heartbroken Dante started mutilating his own leg. Since coming
into rescue Dante has really come along well and his leg is almost healed!
He loves to play nonstop whether tugging & chasing the tug toy, throwing the
tennis ball or playing hide and seek. He craves attention and does well with
other dogs. He gets a little jealous of other pets but he is learning to
stop that, since he now knows they will play with him also. This dog needs
an active owner and would benefit from a playmate with 4 legs!

Cooper
This is Cooper. He was a really well cared for, spoiled dog. He is a Well
adjusted very happy boy. He was just too much energy for a young woman with
a baby to care for and another one on the way. These pictures are from a
professional sitting last year. The problem for cooper is the family does
not have a fenced yard, so he was taken for walks every day. The owner could
not walk Cooper and push the stroller. So Cooper didn’t get walked and
energy built up. Cooper needs to have what the owners could no longer give
with the introduction of the babies
He slept in his crate every night with prior owner, but he now sleeps in his
crate with the door open or another favorite spot around the house.
He has his Canine Good Citizen certificate and is Crate Trained-Command "Get
in your house" He knows "down, sit, stay, come, no, stop, out, off, kiss"
Trained to sit for all treats and toys, to sit for putting leash on and off,
to sit prior to going outside and sit outside of kitchen until he is
released for his meals.
Cooper's favorite activities are running, playing chase, chasing balls,
getting lots of love.

Cheyenne 2 year old red female , very playful and good with other dogs.
Loves to be near her family . Cheyenne is a good watchdog as she will bark
with a warning but loves everyone who pays attention to her. Friendly,
housebroken and affectionate.

This is Isaac a 1 year old all natural blue male that loves people and other
female dogs. He is energetic and has been waiting for a real home for a long
time. Isaac originally was in a neglect situation but as you can tell he is
healthy and waiting for you to make him part of your family.

Ziggy young, maybe 1 ˝ to 2 year old, male. Lots of energy
loves people. Housebroken and ready for love.

Cheyenne
Cheyenne is a shy, quiet and timid girl 3 year old , approximately. The poor
girl doesn’t know what to do. She is torn between being glued to your side
and relying on your confidence, doesn’t quite trust just yet. She is coming
out of her shell a little more every day. Cheyenne is a very docile, quiet
girl. She has proved herself very well in the house. I have given her
freedom in the house when I leave and she has never destroyed anything.
Cheyenne is housetrained and crate trained. She is not too bad on the leash.

Sweet 7 year old red cropped and docked male. Favorite past-time, pressing
his head on your lap for affection. Very loving, good with other dogs.
Housebroken. This is another Velcro dog that wants to be next to his family.

Luke is a big
beautiful 1 ˝ year old male with lots of love to give. Luke would love the
company of another dog (preferably female) to run and play with. He would do
best in a yard that is fenced in and with a family that will keep up with
his activity level. He loves to play ‘tug’ and even does well with small
dogs. Come see Luke he will surely steal your heart.

CEASAR
Looking for a special home for Caesar the 12 year old dobie I have in foster
AGAIN. He was adopted and brought back. He was DUMPED at the shelter by his
previous owners. Ceasar spent most of his life alone and OUTSIDE . This boy
needs a home to spend his golden years in . He is active , loves to play
ball and gets along with the ‘girls’. He would fit into a home with anyone
that is a dog person and understands accidents happen when you are a senior.
Can everyone help me? And Caesar? He would really appreciate it.
Please don’t let Ceasar spend his last years waiting for his new
family, call to see him. You will fall in love.

Max
Max 2 year old, well cared for dog and were
surrendered by a breeder. Breeder would not convey papers as white chest
would disqualify. Max has not shown any signs of aggression
towards people or other animals. He has been very welled behaved
and tested well towards dogs at the shelter- showing no signs of aggression.
He lived with 2
other dogs with no incidences and got along well. He is
housetrained and has been to obedience class and know basic commands, and well behaved in the home.
He is fully vetted- up to date on all
shots, de-wormed, fecal, and neutered.

This is Kane. He
is a 2 1/2 yr old male with natural ears looking for his forever home. Gets
along so far with female dogs (as you can see he is in love with Penny) More

Red 3 to 4 year old female. She thinks she is the boss and tries to act
tough but the whole time her tail is wagging. She tries to boss her brother
Bosco around and he just looks at her and tries to get her to play. Penny is
a sweetheart and is very pretty, housebroken and lovable.

Doberman / German pinscher cross female cropped and docked. Beautiful girl.
Very loving and does well with other dogs male and female. Izzy is in a
foster home making herself comfortable as the photos show. Her foster
parents say she is very affectionate and is housebroken. More to come as we
get to know her.

Rocky
Rocky is a 5 year old cropped and docked red male Doberman. Rocky has the
most beautiful and expressive eyes. He is an active guy that wants your
undivided attention. Please NO CATS and NO SMALL ANIMALS. He is a real
lover, Crate trained and housebroken. He Walks well on lead and comes when
called. Rocky needs someone that will be patient with him and help him
continue learning new things. I am not sure if he lived in a home before but
adapted well. Rocky has a nice disposition and is has greeted young children
while out for a walk. Actually, Rocky thinks that everyone we encounter
while out is supposed to pet him. He will stand and stare at people until
they acknowledge him! He loves to cuddle on the couch.

Bosco is a 6 – 7 year old young red male Doberman. This handsome guy likes
to “nurse” his “blankey” as you can see from the picture. Boris is a big boy
but friendly to all. Has been around adults and children. He is very clingy
and wants to be near his “humans” He looks over his shoulder if he is out
walking in the yard to see how far away you are. If you turn to leave he
comes running! Housebroken and knows ‘sit’ and ‘paw’.

Boris
This is Boris. He is the shy one, but has a great temperament. He also is
great with adults and children. Boris wants to be in the same room as his
people and will leave a full bowl of food if you walk away to go to another
room. This group of dogs we just got in are from a breeder who was divorcing
. They are used to people but have had a big upset in their lives as they
are from a rural area and stayed home most of the time, so a lot of sites
and sounds are new to them. They are very curious and handle it well.

Tonka
This is Tonka, neutered very obedient, knows sit, shake, very gentle and so
sweet. He had a really good home, owners were divorcing and he was the
victim for sure. A great dobie, one of our volunteers about 60 years old
little lady (just survived chemo treatments), got him out of his kennel
today and walked him, he was PERFECT on a leash, never once pulled her,
never once jumped on her, and was perfect. He loved going up to all new
people and giving kisses, he sits and shakes. He’s COMPLETELY housebroken,
perfect dog!
